{"id":341,"date":"2015-09-30T11:21:58","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T16:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bobwaldnerbooks.com\/?p=341"},"modified":"2015-09-30T15:58:33","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T20:58:33","slug":"giving-kindle-scout-a-try","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bobwaldnerbooks.com\/?p=341","title":{"rendered":"Giving Kindle Scout a Try"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Are you curious about my new novel?\u00a0 Do you want to see what the cover looks like?\u00a0 Read the first few pages?\u00a0 Well, today&#8217;s your lucky day, because you can do all of that and help me out at the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve\u00a0entered\u00a0<em>The Prophet of Marathon<\/em>\u00a0into the Kindle Scout program, and <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><a style=\"color: #ff00ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kindlescout.amazon.com\/p\/11TVXD4S93D2Z\">my campaign<\/a><\/span> went live this morning.\u00a0 For those of you\u00a0who aren&#8217;t familiar with Kindle Scout, Amazon describes it as &#8220;a place where readers help decide if a book gets published.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0For each book that&#8217;s entered, they post\u00a0the cover, a short description,\u00a0and an excerpt from the manuscript, and they invite readers to nominate the books that they would like to see published.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the end of the thirty-day campaign, they\u00a0give\u00a0you a decision one way or another.\u00a0 Amazon never spells\u00a0out, precisely, their selection\u00a0criteria.\u00a0 Clearly, the\u00a0amount of traffic that the book generates\u00a0plays a role, but it appears that just getting the most nominations doesn&#8217;t guarantee you a publishing contract.\u00a0 My guess is that you need to attract enough interest to get the editors&#8217; attention, and then you&#8217;ll at least have a shot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I would love nothing more than\u00a0to see what Amazon&#8217;s marketing muscle\u00a0could do with this book, so I&#8217;m giving it a try.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can\u00a0nominate me\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><a style=\"color: #ff00ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kindlescout.amazon.com\/p\/11TVXD4S93D2Z\">here<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you like what you see, \u00a0tell a friend (or, more optimally, all your friends).
